What to Expect:

In our hearing centre, you will be asked questions about your hearing loss which will directly relate to the Hearing Aid Council Code of Conduct. Once we are satisfied that you have no referable conditions we will use our video otoscope, to examine the ear drum and ear canal. With this piece of equipment we can show you your ear health on a computer screen.

Once we are happy with the health of your ears, you will be tested by the state of the art computerised audiometer, which presents a series of tones, growing ever fainter, which you have to respond to with a push button. This will give us the pure-tone threshold, or the faintest sounds that you can hear, and from this we will be able to establish the extent of your hearing loss.

Once we have this data, plus some extra test data we can discuss with you the types of hearing aids which may suit you. The hearing test normally takes 30-35mins.

We normally carry some demonstration instruments in stock, which will allow us then to put them on you and show you the options open to you.

From this point we normally take ear impressions (for the manufacture of your hearing aid), and then send it away. Once the new aid is back wth us, we contact you and meet again for a fitting. This can include the real ear measurement equipment, which actually measures the output of the hearing aids whilst fitted in your ear.

The process of rehabilitation has now begun, and you will be assisted along the way by us.
