Honiton Hearing ticks all the right boxes“Buy with Confidence” scheme now applies to local Southwest hearing aid company. In response to concerns about ‘rogue traders’ a partnership of Local Authority Trading Standards Services have taken a ground breaking step by putting together the “Buy with Confidence” scheme. The scheme provides consumers with a list of local businesses that have undergone a series of detailed checks before being approved as a member of the scheme. In order to become a member of the “Buy with Confidence” scheme, Honiton Hearing first had to be recommended and then pass regulated checks. Membership is not given lightly as amongst other checks, applicants have their complaints history reviewed and have visits and inspections from Trading Standards. Good references from past customers, agreeing to abide by the schemes code of conduct whilst following the letter of the law are all requirements. Conduct continues to be monitored once the business has been granted membership. Colin adds “At Honiton Hearing we have always been honest and truthful with our advice to customers and this has built our reputation as a reliable, friendly, family-run business. We always provide independent advice that is not misleading and our pricing policy is transparent. We are delighted to be part of this scheme as it fits in totally with our company ethos of serving our customers honestly”. Honiton Hearing Visit Denmark for the launch of the new AgilOticon’s headquarters just outside Copenhagen, proved to be an interesting and chilly setting in March for Colin & Sam’s recent trip to Denmark for the launch of the Oticon flagship model the Agil which is the first hearing aid designed to enable people with a hearing loss to minimise the cognitive energy expended in typical listening environments without compromising sound quality and speech understanding. With the breakthrough multidimensional sound processing of new Oticon Agil, speech understanding becomes more immediate so that more cognitive energy is readily available for everyday interactions. “People with hearing loss often struggle to hear and identify sounds meaning they use a considerable amount of energy to follow even the most casual of conversations,” Said Colin afterwards. “It takes them more time and more energy to reflect on the meaning of sounds, to remember the flow of a conversation and to respond before the conversation has moved on,” he continued. “The brain uses a three-step process to understanding speech,” he pointed out “It first organises sounds and selects those sounds that are most important. Once a sound is identified, the brain follows it naturally, enabling the individual to comfortably interact in the listening environment. Hearing loss distorts sounds, disrupting this process for people with hearing loss. Now, new Oticon Agil takes much of the hard work out of organising, selecting and following sounds so that people with hearing loss can stay engaged and active in everyday activities. Such as interacting with family and friends and most experts agree that the most effective way to maintain cognitive function is by maintaining a healthy social network,” explained Colin “We know that people with untreated hearing loss often withdraw from society because it is simply too difficult for them to engage effectively in social situations. Oticon Agil is designed to offer people with hearing loss a simple and effective solution that significantly improves speech understanding while conserving cognitive energy so that they can continue to live an active life.”
